So, I went to Seattle…

Last week, I headed to Seattle to lead an InDesign workshop for SMPS Seattle and honestly, the trip was the perfect mix of AEC marketing, coffee and reconnecting with people.

Wednesday: Coffee First, Always

My trip started bright and early at the San Antonio airport, where I spotted an iconic “Go Spurs Gooo!” sign before boarding my flight to Seattle. It felt like the perfect SATX sendoff.

And yes, the very first thing I did after landing was grab coffee. Seattle kind of requires it.

Between the cooler weather, walkable streets and coffee shops everywhere, the city immediately lived up to expectations.

Thursday: Proposal People Just Get It

Thursday was all about the InDesign workshop with SMPS Seattle. One of my favorite parts of these trainings is getting to meet AEC marketers from completely different regions and realizing we all deal with the exact same things.

The Weekend: Seattle Adventures

After the workshop wrapped up, I got to meet up with Sam Ferris, who some San Antonio AEC people may remember from RVK before he moved to Seattle a few years ago. It was great catching up and seeing a familiar face across the country.

The weekend also included a Trae Crowder comedy show, exploring the city and squeezing in as much Seattle coffee as possible before heading back to Texas.

Trips like this always remind me how connected the AEC industry really is. No matter where you go, there’s always a community of creative, hardworking proposal people ready to swap stories, tips and probably a few deadline horror stories too.
