In aviation, “preflight” is the inspection a pilot completes before takeoff. It’s not flashy. It’s not complicated. It’s just a structured check to make sure everything is functioning the way it should before leaving the ground.
In design, preflight is what you do before exporting a document for print or digital distribution.
It’s that intentional, final pass through the file to confirm that everything behaves exactly the way you think it does.
For us, that means checking six things, every time:
Check your links
Check for overset text
Update your table of contents
Update cross-references
Run spellcheck
Verify all swatches are CMYK
